Clay, craft and mountain tradition meet in Sylva

The 21st annual Western North Carolina Pottery Festival returns to Bridge Park in downtown Sylva on Saturday, November 7, 2026, bringing more than 40 master potters together for a celebration of ceramic art.

The juried event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and showcases both practical and decorative pieces, from mugs and bowls to sculptural works.

Artists from across the country participate, giving visitors the opportunity to see a wide range of methods and styles in a single outdoor setting.

Watch pottery come to life

Demonstrations throughout the festival let visitors observe pottery techniques and appreciate the skill and patience behind individual pieces.

The festival has become a significant regional arts tradition, drawing collectors, casual shoppers and families to Jackson County.

For visitors who have never purchased handmade pottery, meeting artists offers a chance to ask about materials, glazing and how pieces are made and cared for.

Plan a day in downtown Sylva

Bridge Park is within easy walking distance of Main Street shops and restaurants, making the festival an appealing stop during a November day trip.

Organizers say the festival will proceed rain or shine, so dress for mountain weather and wear comfortable shoes.

General admission is $8 per person, and children younger than 12 are admitted free.

Pets are not allowed inside the festival grounds.
