Openings, Closings and Changes Across Western North Carolina: October 2026 |
New locations, restaurant comebacks, business expansion and recent departures around Asheville and Hendersonville |

Western North Carolina's business landscape continues to evolve. Some local favorites are returning in new locations, while other businesses are remodeling, expanding services or closing their doors. Here are several noteworthy developments reported in recent weeks.
REOPENING: Andaaz returns in downtown Asheville
Indian restaurant Andaaz has reopened at 15 Page Avenue, on the ground floor of the Cambria Hotel opposite the Grove Arcade. The restaurant previously operated in Biltmore Village, where its location was destroyed by Hurricane Helene flooding in 2024. The relocation brings Andaaz to a new downtown audience while retaining its Indian dining focus.
NEW LOCATION: Guajiro settles into the River Arts District
Guajiro Cuban Comfort Food has opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant at Asheville Cotton Mill Studios in the River Arts District. The family-operated restaurant, also displaced by Helene, offers Cuban-American comfort food informed by family recipes. Its opening is another sign of commercial activity returning to the district.
OPENING: FB Financial establishes Asheville retail banking presence
FB Financial announced that its first full-service retail banking location in Western North Carolina would open in Asheville on October 5. The office adds personal banking services alongside the company's existing commercial business in the region.
CHANGE: Pillar Rooftop Bar undertakes a remodel
To mark ten years in Asheville, Pillar Rooftop Bar announced a remodel and an updated cocktail concept. The project is intended to refresh the rooftop venue's look and guest experience. Check the venue directly for current operating arrangements while changes are underway.
EXPANSION: Greenway eBike Rentals broadens its Pisgah offerings
Greenway eBike Rentals announced an expansion of guided electric bicycle experiences, including authorization for guided tours and rentals within Pisgah National Forest. Visitors should confirm which routes and services are available, and follow current Forest Service rules and access restrictions.
CLOSINGS: Several Asheville dining names depart
Recent local restaurant coverage has reported closures including Regina's, Rhubarb and The Rhu. Each departure affects a different part of Asheville's food community. Before visiting a former favorite, check for any subsequent reopening, replacement concept or new location.
Looking ahead
New businesses and closures often bring changes in jobs, neighborhood activity and shopping or dining options. As more confirmed announcements become available, 828 Daily will continue tracking significant openings, closings, relocations and renovations across Asheville, Hendersonville and the wider mountain region.
